What is Singles' Day, a Chinese e-commerce shopping holiday on 11 November? Is there any sale in Japan?
You may have heard of the world largest online shopping day, Singles' day (光棍节 Guanggun Jie in Chinese) on 11 November. It is a day for young Chinese people, but it is also a huge opportunity for Japanese e-commerce companies (and brands) to enter the Chinese market.

SoftBank Group started a shopping campaign in 2015, set 11 November as "いい買い物の日"(Iikaimono no hi - Good Shopping Day). (Press Release on 2 November 2015 : https://www.softbank.jp/corp/group/sbm/news/press/2015/20151102_01/)
If you are wondering why they set 11 November as "いい買い物の日", it's because in Japanese 語呂合わせ(Goroawase - Japanese wordplay), 11 → いい(ii) → 良い(Good).
By the way, we use a lot of Goroawase in Japanese language, especially when we try to remember meaningless random numbers/digits (e.g. phone number).
